Alte Pinakothek
A superb gallery born from the passion of the Bavarian kings, with a breathtaking collection of Old Masters dominated by the monumental works of Rubens.
The Alte Pinakothek is one of the most important and oldest galleries in the world, dedicated to European painting from the 14th to the 18th century. Its collection is exceptionally rich in early German Renaissance painting (with masterpieces by Albrecht Dürer) and Flemish painting, and it boasts key works by Italian masters such as Leonardo, Raphael, and Titian. However, its true heart is one of the largest and most spectacular collections of works by Peter Paul Rubens, including his gigantic 'Great Last Judgement', which alone occupies an entire, imposing hall.
